Jaiswal slammed for his sexist comment by women groups
Reacting sharply to union coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal's sexist comments, women groups and the opposition parties demanded an apology from the minister for hurting the sentiments of women across the country.

MAMTA SHARMA, the Chairperson of National Commission for Women said that it was extremely unfortunate that Sri Prakash Jaiswal, the Union coal minister made such sexist remarks. Asking him to apologise to the women of the country, Sharma said that it was unfortunate that people who reach such a high level make such comments.

“We will write a letter to Prime Minister and high command…we demand his apology,"Sharma said  in this nnis video. This was a right opportunity for the Bharatiya Janata Party to attack the leaders of Congress, and the women BJP workers burned the effigy of Jaiswal and also defaced his posters. "We can judge the standard of Congress on the basis of these utterances, how low can they go," said BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman.

The Union Coal Minister though said that he had no intention to hurt anybody's sentiments and he also said that he is ready to apologise for his comments, if it had hurt anyone. The minister later apologised for his comment, at a poetry meet at K.K. Girls College in Kanpur

Jaiswal made the comment while congratulating a gathering in Kanpur at India's victory over Pakistan in the T20 world Cup. And in the speech he compared the victory 'which fades with time is like old wives losing their charm over time'.

Rani Agarwal, principal of a degree college in Lucknow, said that high command should take a proper action over this issue. She also added that Sonia Gandhi being a woman should take appropriate action over Jaiswal's sexist remarks.
