I met Jim and his beautiful family back in the mid 70's in Hollywood. He was an actor's actor even then and sacrificed deeply for his art. The MET Theater exists because of his love and sweat. When, later in life, Jim attained the success he deserved, it felt to my wife and myself that one of the "good guys" finally won. His legacy is not only his personal filmography (see his performance with Kevin Costner in "Revenge") but the neighborhood live theater where Hollywood stars and struggling actors can learn and hone their craft and perhaps, someday, be as fine an actor as James Gammon.
