Janardhan Reddy, Srinivas Reddy arrested by CBI post raids
Mining baron Janardhana Reddy and Managing Director of the Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) BV Srinivas were arrested by the CBI on Monday morning. They were also indicted in the Lokayukta's report to the government submitted on July 27.
THE MINING scam in Karnataka took a new turn when former minister in the BS Yeddyurappa government and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy and the Managing Director of the Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) BV Srinivas were arrested by the CBI on Monday morning.
Reddy, who served as the Tourism and Infrastructure Development Minister in the Yeddyurappa government was held responsible in the Lokayukta’s report to the government on July 27. In the report, the Reddy brothers viz G Karunakara Reddy, G. Janardhana Reddy and G. Somashekara Reddy were named and apart from OMC 65 other companies are under the CBI net for irregularities.
In the early hours of Monday morning, when a team of CBI sleuths from Hyderabad conducted a raid at Reddy’s residence in Bellary, they seized some documents from his house. The CBI also raided the residence of Srinivas Reddy at the same place. P.V. Lakshminarayana, the CBI DIG, who led the team to the raids, has reportedly taken the Reddy and Srinivas Reddy to Hyderabad for further questioning.
