Jarawa video four to five years old: Andaman officials
After the cat is out of the bag, now the officials are saying that the Jarawa video is very old. However, they are also saying that they would look into the matter and punish the guilty. It seems that they are contradicting themselves.

WE ARE always curious to know what goes on in the deep jungles where other human beings, who are so similar to us yet so different, make a livelihood. Andaman and Nichobar Islands did lose some of their tourist attractions after the coral reefs were destroyed during tsunami but the Jarawa tribes still attract a lot of tourists from all over the world. For the cultured people, the aboriginals are intriguing but the latest developments where they are seen dancing for the amusement of tourists, is a national shame. However, the Andaman chief secretary Shakti Sinha has said that the footage is four or five years old.

After the declaration that has been reported by Samachar.com, the most important question is that how can he be so sure? Apart from that, were the officials aware of the situation and that the tribals are exploited, and if so, why has no action been taken? Not only the Chief Secretary but also officials in the local administration and Parliament member Bishnu Pada Ray of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, said that the clipping was old. However, since it has garnered so many eyeballs and national attention now, he also added that if any such thing is happening then he would look into the matter. So now that it has made international news, they would look into the matter.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has asked the authorities to verify the authenticity of the video, which shows Jarawa women dancing naked in the video. These tribes have been living on the islands for thousands of years. According to Samachar.com sources, Home Minister P. Chidambaram during his visit to the island on January 21 will take up the issue with the local administration.

How the tour operators and policemen have been earning quick bucks by letting foreigners enjoy the naked dances of these girls is really intriguing, and at the same time it shows how one group has been exploiting their way of life. This whole scandal questions the fact whether we can call ourselves cultured?
