Jaswant Singh on being expelled from the primary membership of BJP, expressed regret over the party decision saying that he had served the party for the last thirty years. He said he did not regret the content of his book.
DESPITE THE BJP expelling him from the primary membership of the party, senior leader Jaswant Singh reiterated in Shimla on Wednesday (August 19), that his political career was far from over. Talking to reporters at the Oberoi hotel in Shimla, where he had gone to attend the BJP conclave, Jaswant Singh expressed regret over the party decision saying that he had served the party for the last thirty years.
Jaswant Singh was also critical of the, manner in which the BJP had conveyed the decision to strip him off the party membership over a phone call. Admitting that it was a very sad day in his life, the Darjeeling MP said that such decision by the party was aimed at killing dissent, which in a way threaten to make it an intellectually moribund party.
The BJP leader, however, refused to comment on the role played by RSS in his expulsion from the party and also said that he did not regret the content of his book.
Singh was expelled from BJP for praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan in a book written by him. The decision of expelling him from the party was announced today by party chief Rajnath Singh in Shimla, where the party top brass has congregated for an introspection meeting.
Rajnath told the reporters today that he had called Jaswant Singh and told him about the party decision.
