Jayalalithaa tells 1006 newly-weds to face challenges in life
The analysis is about of a mass wedding organized by the Tamil Nadu government arranged for a mass wedding for 1006 couples and her advice how to run a life.

THE TAMIL Nadu government organized a mass wedding ceremony in Chennai yesterday in which 1006 couples got married under a government scheme. The scheme evolves the poor people who don’t have enough funds to arrange the wedding. The couples are selected under a category when it comes select the couple for marriage. The couples are from different communities and all districts of the state. The grooms and their relatives come to Chennai by government arranged buses. The government gives 24 things free of cost to the couples for the marriage.

The wedding function arranged at Thiruverkadu Karumariamman temple the couples tied the knot in the presence of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and other guests and their relatives. Addressing the gathering after greeting the couples the chief Minister told the couples about how to face the challenges in life after getting married. Jayalalithaa told the gathering that marriage is not between the two but a union of families. She compared the marriage to ship captain who weather all the storms while sailing the ship face all kinds of problem like rain, strong winds, and thunderstorm. The ship captain faces the challenge and reaches the destination finally. She wants the couple to follow the lines of ship captain.

Jayalalithaa told the couples to face the challenges in life. Life is difficult to run - one cannot escape from that. Those who weather the challenges in life will be the victor and the community will give the couple recognition.

The mass weddings are not new to people of Tamil Nadu they are used to it. Late Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran organized mass weddings in the year 1982 and the present Chief Minister Jayalalithaa organized similar weddings in the period from 1991 to 1996 and again in 2002 and 2003. The Tamil Nadu government gives a grant of 25,000 rupees and 4 grams of gold for the wedding to under privileged and economically backward women.
