This happened after the Bharatiya Janta Party leaders failed to reach an agreement on the seat-sharing besides the issue of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) tainted minister Babu Lal Kushwaha joining the BJP just before elections also did not go well with the senior JD-U leaders including its national president Sharad Yadav.
Now it is official, it will not be the NDA contesting elections in Uttar Pradesh but the JD-(U) and the BJP will be fighting the elections separately on their party symbols. JD – (U) general secretary Subhash Pathak said the party would contest the upcoming polls on its own in Uttar Pradesh and the party’s national president Sharad Yadav has finalized the first list of candidates for some 32 seats.
He said that party’s state president Suresh Niranjan ‘Bhaiyyaji’ was in Delhi and was in constant touch with the senior party leaders like Sharad Yadav and K C Tyagi. The party has made its first list of candidates’ public and the list includes the names of following candidates.

Subhash Pathak said that party’s national leaders including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with party’s national president Sharad Yadav would come to campaign for party candidates. The party will present “Bihar model of government” before the electorate and will seek mandate on the issue of good governance.
