JANTA DAL (United) party president Sharad Yadav arrived here in Lucknow on Tuesday to meet party workers and office bearers at the party’s headquarter, and to discuss party’s poll strategy in view of the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
He was accompanied by the party’s state president Suresh Niranjan ‘Bhaiyyaji’, general secretary Subhash Pathak and hundreds of followers who converged at their party office in order to meet their leader Sharad Yadav and to apprise him of the problems and demands of party workers ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections. As soon as Sharad Yadav arrived at the party office the workers began raising the slogan “Sharad Yadav zindabad”, and they greeted their leader by presenting a garland. After he settled down in the office, the party office bearers from different regions of the state began approaching the president for his guidance and support to their candidature for the upcoming elections.
The workers from Mau, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Pilibhit and many other districts had to make a queue to get their points addressed to the party president. Many of the workers felt that like the coalition in Bihar was doing a commendable job, time has come when some sort of seat sharing formula must be reached upon with the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh also so that JD (U) workers can begin their poll preparations accordingly.Though both the JD (U) and the BJP have not reached at any acceptable seat sharing formula in the state yet, the workers want party’s top leadership to act fast in this regard so that cross-voting among the two parties can be checked, and the chances of getting elected to the seat could be brightened. Many opined that their party should also field new faces and due emphasis must be given to the youth factor as it has been playing a crucial role in the elections and giving a chance to young leaders in the party could turn fortunes in their favor. The leader, who is on a two-day visit to the state capital, will also address the media on Wednesday at the Uttar Pradesh Press Club.
