JDU will fight Lok Sabha polls in coalition with BJP in Uttar Pradesh
Janata Dal United senior leader K C Tyagi has revealed that his party would fight the Lok Sabha polls in the state along with the Bharatiya Janta Party in coalition under the umbrella of NDA.

THE JANATA Dal United (JDU) and the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will fight the Lok Sabha polls together in Uttar Pradesh under the umbrella of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the seat sharing formula would be chalked out soon. This was stated by the senior JDU leader and national general secretary of the party K C Tyagi. Mr. Tyagi was talking to the media during the state level convention of the party, which was held at the ‘Sahkarita Bhavan’ auditorium here in Lucknow on Saturday.

Mr Tyagi said the state government has failed completely on all fronts since it came to power. The law and order is in utter bad shape and women don’t feel safe on the roads while returning home during night. Crime incidents have gone up. Businessmen nowadays are not feeling safe and there is no rosy picture for the industry too. How one can think of drawing the investment in a state where there is no power and mafia rules the roost.

What this Samajwadi Party government did for the backward region of Bundelkhand? What they did on FDI? They show here that they are against the UPA government but in fact their party supports the UPA at the Centre. And this is the harsh reality, Mr Tyagi said.

The convention saw some noisy scenes early in the morning when some outsiders entered the hall and tried to disturb the proceedings. However, things were controlled quickly as the election officer of the party, Rajendra Pratap Singh Patel, announced the result of party’s office bearer election in which Suresh Niranjan Bhaiyaji was once again elected as the state president for the next term.

The party passed a political resolution in the convention which was well received by the members of party present on the occasion. The resolution said the party would oppose any Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail market. Former MLA of the party Subhash Chandra Srivastava said the FDI would only harm the interest of farmers and small vendors. He told the party has decided to protest its implementation by the UPA government.

Rana Pratap Yadav said the Uttar Pradesh state government was doing nothing concrete to tackle the menace of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) which has claimed many lives in the north-east regions of the state. He said the Union government decided to open an AIIMS here in Uttar Pradesh and it should have been opened in the eastern part of the state where it is urgently required but for some political reasons they are opening it in Rai Bareli.

Reading the political resolution, senior leader Shankar Lal Yadav said the party has demanded from the Uttar Pradesh state government to increase the minimum support price for the purchase of sugarcane to Rs 400 per tone which would benefit lakhs of farmers growing sugarcanes. He said no efforts were made to restart the sugar mills that have been lying closed in the eastern region of the state and that could generate great employment. This government instead of giving employment to the youth feels giving ‘unemployment allowance’ would get it ‘vote bank’ of the young unemployed youth in the elections. This is ridiculous.
