Jesus Christ's teachings emphasise a world free from inequality and injustice: PM Modi on Good Friday
On the occasion of Good Friday being observed with Christian community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the sacrifices of Jesus Christ and tweeted, "Lord Jesus' life, rich ideals and exemplary courage are a source of strength for many."

"Jesus Christ's teachings emphasise a world free from inequality and injustice," he added.

Good Friday is observed by Christians across the world to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. The observance on the Friday before Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The day is marked by prayers and masses in the Churches and Chapels. In the North East, Goa and Kerala, special masses and processions take place in all major churches. However, the observance of the day at the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa and Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and Don Bosco grounds in Panaji are well attended.

It is reported that the Panaji church square witnesses the mass and the Way of the Cross by describing the sufferings of Jesus Christ. Also, the ceremony of the Way of the Cross is held depicting the scenes from the Crucifixion.

Here is message of Good Friday in haiku.

Remain collected

In face of humiliation -

Ever forgiving

Be silent witness

To all that is happening

That's humility
