In order to alleviate falling revenue after the pilot's strike, Jet airways has announced a 50 per cent discounted fair for five days, for economy class seats in domestic flights.
IN AN attempt to bring back its declining revenue, after the crippling pilots' strike, Jet Airways has offered a whooping 50 per cent fare discount for five days. This discount begins from domestic flights scheduled from Monday (Sept 14) to Friday (Sept 18) and on seats in the Economy class.
An official spokesperson for the airline confirmed this on Sunday evening, mere hours after the five day pilot strike was called off around midnight. In a conference, the Jet Airways Executive Director Saroj Dutta announced that the private carrier has suffered heavy losses of over Rs 200 crores or $40 million dollars on account of the pilots' stir since last Tuesday.
The discount would would be applicable on the total fare, which includes basic fare and fuel surcharge, on all bookings between Monday till Friday on economy class, on all domestic sectors.
The airline has also decided not to initiate any disciplinary action against the pilots who took part in the five days of mass "sick leave" agitation and also withdraw the contempt of court proceedings against them before the Bombay High Court. A management proposal to sort out pending issues through a consultative committee, which would include two directors and the chief executive along with two representatives of the pilots, was also agreed upon.
Jet Airways along with its subsidiary and low cost carriers Konnect and JetLite, has a fleet of 107 aircraft, which make a total of 450 daily flights to 43 domestic and 20 International destinations. Jet Airways has a strength of 1,800 pilots and carries over 25,000 passengers every day.
