The Jet Airways flight from Mumbai to Muscat, had 122 passengers on board, while the Kingfisher flight had none. The incident took place at 2:05 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, no injuries were reported.
According to airport sources, the pilot of Jet Airways flight 9W5402 reported that while pushing back from Bay 85, the aircraft tip brushed against the tail fin of an adjacent Kingfisher plane, that was parked in Bay 84. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the incident.
According to the Jet spokesperson, the Jet airways passengers were flown to their destination by another aircraft. In a statement Jet Airways said the incident is being probed in coordination with Mumbai Airport and DGCA authorities. Kingfisher also said the extent of damage is being probed and that their engineering team is carrying out maintenance work.
