Jewellery worth 10 crores stolen in Chennai
A jewellery shop owned by Kerala-based Anto Alukkas group was taken aback, when jewellery worth 10 crores was stolen from their shop in Tirupur. The way these burglars broke into the shop reminds us of some Hollywood flicks.

WHEN A jewellery shop-owner opened his shop on Tuesday morning, he was in for a rude shock of his life. Jewellery worth crores was missing from the showroom, located in Tirupur, Chennai. The Times of India reported that the robbers managed to escape with gold and diamonds worth Rs. 10 crores. The theft took place on Monday night. The shop was owned by the Kerala-based Anto Alukkas group.

The way the burglars made their way into the shop is nothing short of a Hollywood flick, where burglars reach the spot without anyone knowing about it. According the police, the thieves used gas cutters so as to cut open the iron doors. They entered the shop from the back by creating an opening through a ventilator. It was an attempt that was executed perfectly, as the guards in the region were not even aware of it.

The burglars had come with a clear objective and knew what they were looking for. They did not take away silver jewellery as it would not fetch them good money as compared to gold and diamonds. Hence, they took away 36 kg of gold and 2 kg of diamonds. Their expertise can be seen from the fact that they had even switched off the CCTV cameras of the shop, reported The Times of India. Though The Hindu has reported that the CCTV cameras were switched off by the shop personnel. It is a big loss for the Kerala-based group.

The thieves chose a bank located on a busy road, very close to Tirupur North police station. As of now, the police have formed special teams so as to get hold of the thieves. It is not for the first time that such kind of burglary has taken place in Tirupur, as there have been instances where people have targeted jewellery showrooms and banks in the recent past.
