AFTER THE Jamshedpur East seat was allotted to Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM), an alliance of the Congress in Jharkhand, it has given rise to matters of rift and discrepancy in the framework of the coalition.
Several aspiring Congress candidates who were expecting tickets from the Jamshedpur East seat have revealed that the Congress has neglected them. In the light of this dispute between JVM and Congress the aspiring Congress candidates are now shifting focus of their campaign in favour of other Congress candidates contesting from different assembly seats of East Singhbhum.
"The top brass of the party before allotting the seat to our alliance, JVM, should have consulted and discussed the matter with grass-root party workers and leaders. This time we had spent a large chunk of our resources in campaigning keeping in mind the last assembly election when the Congress lost to Bhartia Janta Party's (BJP) candidate Raghubar Das by a meager margin. We were expecting better results this time as we had worked very hard but unfortunately the high command decided to allot the seat to JVM," said Tarkeshwar Tiwary aka Goldy, Congress leader who was hoping to get a ticket for Jamshedpur East seat.
The absence of campaigning for the alliance party, JVM, in the Jamshedpur East seat by several Congress leaders gives us a hint of difference in the agreement of coalition.
"We will be faithful to the Congress and still campaign for it but in different assembly seats were we have Congress candidates fighting elections," said Tiwary.
Though the district president of Congress, Ravindra Jha, claims that there has been no dispute between the Congress and the JVM.
"We are following the high commands decision and we shall abide by it. There is no reason for dispute and we shall make sure that we cooperate with the JVM in its campaigning in the Jamshedpur East assembly seat. Our party workers will coordinate with all JVM candidates in the district to ensure better results," said Jha.
