THE RESULTS to the Jharkhand Assembly elections, which took place in the state on - proved to be an eye opener about the lay of the land in the state, politically. Among doubts of a hung house, the Bhartiya Janata Party led NDA has taken a lead in 22 seats on Wednesday, December 23, the Congress was leading in 21 constituencies.
Amid high security, the process of counting of votes began early Wednesday morning for the Jharkhand assembly elections.
Till now, trends of voting have been made available for 47 seats. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was leading in eight seats and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in six.
Enos Ekka, a former minister now in jail, was not in the lead from Kolibera and Simdega, where he was contesting for in the Jharkhand assembly elections. On the other hand, two other politicians similarly jailed - Kamlesh Singh and Harinarayan Rai, seem to be winning from the constituencies of Hussainabad and Jarmundi respectively.
There are 81 seats in the state assembly, for which polls were held in a staggered manner, between November 25 and December 18. A total of 1,511 candidates contested for these 81 seats.
The Jharkhand assembly elections are expected to bring an end to President's rule that has been prevalent in the state since January, when then Chief minister of the state Shibu Soren had lost the Tamar seat in the by polls. The congress party is expected to tie up its fortunes with the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha Prajatantrik.
