JK power sector employees to oppose privatization
Jammu and Kashmir Employees and Workers United Front (JKEWUF) has expressed serious concern over the recent decision taken by the state government to privatize the power sector.

TERMING IT as an attempt to 'cover their (government) mistakes', JKEWUF general secretary Md. Maqbool has called the decision to privatize the power sector as unacceptable.

“There is a shortfall of 1200 megawatts in the state. The government did not pay attention towards the private sector which exploited water resources. Just to cover up their mistakes they have chosen the easy way out,” said Md. Maqbool.

He said that the employees union in the power sector will oppose the government's decision to privatize the power sector.

“In 2013, the entire power sector will be privatized. It will be handed over to big contractors. But we will strongly oppose this decision. We will fight against it. We will not let this happen,” he added, according to NNIS.
