J&K Shri Ram Sena demands separate Jammu State, UT status to Ladkah
Trifurcation of the State, separate State status for both Jammu and Kashmir regions and granting union territory status to Ladkah region is the only viable option that can meet the aspirations of not only the people of Jammu region but also of Ladakh and Kashmir regions, said Rajiv Mahajan, State President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Jammu and Kashmir, in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
Alleging that the Central Government led by Narendra Modi continued to hold the view that Kashmir represented the whole of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, he urged the central government to redress this issue on priority.

Highlighting the discrimination meted to the people of Jammu region at the hands of Kashmiri rulers, Rajiv Mahajan said people of Jammu region suffered in all walks of life - in development activities, in services and in allocation of funds.

He said that separate State can only address the grievances of the people of the region.

"There is no other solution except Separate State for Jammu province that can free the people of the province from Kashmiri domination," he said.

He stressed for the trifurcation of the J&K State with each region having separate Assembly, separate Chief Minister, separate PSC, Selection Board and separate administrative and other independent offices.

"Jammu and Ladakh are culturally, linguistically, ethnically and even geographically separate from the Kashmir Valley. We need separate Jammu State and a UT status for Ladakh to protect our unique identity and lifestyle," Rajiv Mahajan said.

"The demand of the people of Jammu province for a separate state is genuine, given that the Kashmiri leadership has always discriminated against them," he said adding that Jammu gets less adequate share in employment and development funds.

"We are not in favour of trifurcation of the Jammu and Kashmir State but it is due to the circumstances created by the separatists and Hurriyat leaders at the helm of affairs that has made us compelled to raise such demand," he said.
