JKFFA pays tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev
Jammu, March 23: J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Thursday organised a function to remember Shaheed Bhagat Singh and two other freedom fighters who were hanged on March 23rd in 1931.

A function to pay tributes to these freedom fighters was organised under the leadership of Ved Gandotra, President JKFFA at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Amphalla, here.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Sawhney, one of the freedom fighters, while playing tributes to the trio, highlighted the life history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates, who fought for the freedom of the mother land.

He, while remembering Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, said that the trio were awarded death sentence in the Lahore conspiracy case on 14th February, 1931 though they were hanged on 23rd March that year.

"On March 23rd in 1931, freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Hari Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged by the British for their alleged involvement in the killing of John Saunders," he said.

"Trio sacrificed their lives for the independence of India but their inspiring actions continued to stir the desire for freedom until it was achieved in 1947," he added.

"Bhagat Singh was one of the most influential freedom fighters of the Indian freedom struggle. The title Shaheed, meaning 'martyr' most often precedes his name. Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a martyr who inspired the youth of the country to take part in the Indian independence movement," he said.

"The freedom fighters are a lesson for the youth of today, which are only confined to themselves, in making money and neck deep in drug abuse," other speakers said.

Prominent persons amongst others who paid tributes to freedom fighters include State President, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan; Rajinder Singh; Brij Mehra; Parbhat Kapahi; Rajan Gupta; Sahil Malhotra; Abhishiekh Kohli; Tej Ram Dogra; JJ Singh; Devender Singh; Baldev Raj; Rajan Kumar and Varun Sharma.
