JKFFA remembers Shaheed Bhagat Singh, pays tributes to martyrs
J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Tuesday organised a function to remember Shaheed Bhagat Singh and two other freedom fighters who were awarded death sentence on 14th February in 1931.
A function to pay tributes to these freedom fighters was organised under the leadership of Ved Gandotra, President JKFFA at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Amphalla, here.

Speaking on the occasion, the members highlighted the life history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates, who fought for the freedom of the mother land.

They, while paying glowing tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, claimed that the trio were awarded death sentence in the Lahore conspiracy case on 14th February, 1931 though they were hanged on 23rd March that year.

Their Martyrdom, evoke a wave of freedom struggle throughout the country, the members said and added that many youth joined the freedom struggle following the deeds of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.

"The freedom fighters are a lesion for the youth of today, which was only confined to him-self, in money making, in drug abuse and in celebrating valentine day," speakers said.

They claimed that a section of "misguided" youths celebrate the occasion as "love day" under the influence of western culture.

They exhorted the youth to come out of western culture and asked them to observe 14th February as black day, rather than a love day, as our heroes were awarded death sentence on this day.

Claiming that youths were ignorant about history, they said parents, teachers and social activists should educate children about this tragic historical fact so that this day is observed in a somber way rather than as vulgar Valentine's Day.

Participants also paid tributes to army jawans who sacrificed their lives in recent Pakistan sponsored militant attacks in Kashmir Valley.
