Jodhpur court finds Salman Khan guilty of killing two blackbucks; others actors including Saif Ali Khan acquitted
Bollywood actor Salman Khan, on Thursday, was convicted by a Jodhpur court in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. However, all the co-accused actors in the case – Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari, Saif Ali Khan and Tabu – were acquitted.

The court found Salman Khan guilty of killing two blackbucks in 1998, which is prohibited under the Wildlife Protection Act, at Kankani village of Jodhpur district, while he was there shooting for Bollywood film "Hum Saath Saath Hain".

Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri has sentenced Salman Khan to five-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 10,000 being levied on the actor. Salman will now have to appeal in the Rajasthan High Court against his conviction.

According to local media reports, Salman Khan has been taken into custody and will be lodged in barrack number 1 of the Jodhpur Central Jail.

As per latest updates, Salman's bail application has been accepted and will be taken up at 10.30 am on Friday which means that the actor will have to spend the night in the jail.

The trial court had completed the final arguments in the case on March 28, after which chief judicial magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had reserved his judgment.

52-year-old Salman had arrived from Mumbai in a chartered flight yesterday. The actor had earlier been shooting for Race 3 in Abu Dhabi.
