Joe Mc Elderry becomes Christmas number one in Ireland
Though X Factor Joe McElderry may have lost the Christmas number one position against Rage against the Machine in UK, he got it for Ireland. His single The Climb beat RATM single Killing in the Name.
HE MAY have been bested by Rage against the Machine in UK, but X Factor winner Joe McElderry got be the Christmas number one in Ireland, after the Irish sales were counted in. The results for the Christmas number one in UK were announced on Sunday, December 20.
Joe McElderry debut single The Climb topped the charts in Ireland for the second week, putting the Rage Against the Machine song Killing in the Name at number two. He wasn't this sucessful in UK after Facebook campaign bagged support for the Rage Against the Machine single, as it disliked the song choice of Joe Mc Elderry.
Apart from this, the single by Lady GaGa - Bad Romance was at the third spot, a single by the X Factor finalists - You Are Not Alone took up fourth and Black Eyed Peas number Meet Me Halfway was fifth for the Christmas week.
The top ten Christmas singles list is:
