Joe Rollino, once known as the World’s strongest man, was hit by a minivan when he was taking his daily 5 mile walk. He was crossing the street near his Brooklyn home when the accident took place.. Joe 104, after having sustained head and chest injuries and a broken pelvis, died hours after he was admitted in a hoispital.
Joe, 5’5 and weighing 150 pounds was once known as Kid Dundee and was considered as one of the strongest men of his size during his days. He was a pure vegetarian and was referred to as Great Joe Rollino by his friends. He started his career as a weightlifter and then a boxer. Later on, he became a strongman, who was able to move more than a ton, bend nails and coins with his hands and mouth, lift 3200lb weight etc.
He was a part of the Oldetime Barbell and Strongmen organisation. It is said that he could still bend coins with is hands before he died. Rollino even fought in World War II and stayed away from tobacco and alcohol. The country would indeed miss a great strong man.
