John Abraham set to score his second goal for Shoojit Sircar
After winning critical acclaim for his last film with John Abraham, 'Madras Cafe', based on a Sri Lankan civilian war, Shoojit Sircar is planning to make another film with John Abraham with the football as its main backdrop. This is said to be a wedding gift to John by Sircar.

However, this is not for the first time that the bollywood star John Abraham would be involved in a movie involving football. He played the lead role in Vivek Agnihotri's film titled, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, released in 2007.

This movie, which is yet to be titled revolves around Mohun Bagan's victory over East Yorkshire Regiment on July 29, 1911. When the country was under British rule, Mohun Bagan became the first Indian and the first Asian team to have defeated a foreign team and win the IFA Shield. The 'Monoshi' magazine came up with a song on Mohan Bagan, which became very popular during the time. It is also a known fact that Mohun Bagan players played barefoot with folded dhoti against the British team, who has proper football kits.

The producer of the movie Ronnie Lahiri talked about the movie and said, “They have just started the work on it, and is currently in pre-production stage. We have to work a lot on this movie.” He also talked about his association with John and Sircar in the movie, Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe. When asked about John's relevance (in the lead role) in the movie, “John is an avid football player and supporter, and the script needs someone who knows about football, so John is apt for the role,” said Lahiri.

Mohun Bagan's win is an amazing story, similar to real 'Lagaan'. But very few of us know about the entire story behind it, so the well known director Shoojit Sircar is coming up with a movie along with John Abraham on this historic event. The script of the movie is written by Soumik Sen, who made his debut with 'Gulaab Gang' starring Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Juhi Chawla. The trio (Shoojit Sircar, Soumik Sen and John Abraham) are part of the Bengali Club in Bollywood.

Meanwhile, a film in Bengal has already paid a tribute to this historic event, and the movie was named 'Egaro.' It was a small budget movie with a handful of young actors, but still, the film won critical appreciation.
