After the huge success of Shootout at Wadala, John Abraham's next project Madras Cafe is garnering a lot of eyeballs. The film will see a new John Abraham or so claims both the director, Soojit Sircar and the actor. Another rumor doing the rounds is that the lead role opposite Abraham was first offered to Freida Pinto and not Nargis Fakri.
Since the Slumdog Millionair actress was too busy with her other commitments such as Woody Allen's 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger', 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and 'Trishna', Pinto could not say yes to Sircar's Madras Cafe.
As was reported by Indian express, she was however very much impressed with the script of the film. John Abraham also confirmed that, “She (Freida) called me and said it is courageous of me to make a film like Madras Cafe
needs to see more films like that. I took that as a compliment. It is nice to hear that.”
After Vicky Donor made a special place in the heart's of the audience, both the director (Soojit Sircar) and the producer (John Abraham) of the film commanded new respect from the audience. This new status is not lost on the actor turned producer, Abraham, who also wants to direct a movie some day.
Talking about his new found respect, he told Mid Day, “I’ve been told that my name is synonymous with ‘The Body’, but unlike earlier, when the physicality used to precede my work, today it’s all about the performance. Madras Cafe is a move in that direction.
People will speak about the content. The audience has already started taking me seriously and I like that.” Madras cafe will give us a new John as the director constructed and reconstructed John Abraham as an actor.
