It is the rebooting part that is the hardest and is very individualistic, although most of us think that it is gender specific but it is not. Irrespective of the gender, a person has his/her own way of recuperating from the shock of 'being in a relationship' to 'alone' status. Some take the refuge of anger, others become meticulous with their jobs, some drink and smoke everything nasty, but rarely in India someone actually visits a counselor to get over someone.
Depending on the type of the relationship, the person in question is left with a scar or a bitter-sweet memory. Kunal Kumar, who got out of a relationship to get engaged to a girl of his parent's choice said, “Difficult would be too small a word to describe how I felt at the time. It was as if she took a part of me with her. I had to leave the city I was living in, change my job and practically build another world for me. But still I am the bad guy as I had to break up with her.”
“Compatibility was always a problem. He, who was so into me during the initial days of our courtship was indifferent as soon as I became attached. I thought it would go away with time but the waiting around was agony,” said Rashmi (name changed). Some people are lucky enough to see the funny part of a break-up and make jokes about what is surely a painful memory. The same happened on Monday morning as hundreds of people started writing funny tweets under #FunnyBreakupExcuses on microblogging site Twitter.
An ardent fan of Harry Potter tweeted, “I have to hunt horcruxes. #FunnyBreakupExcuses.” Santosh Kumar, who knows all about missing someone and seems to be really irritated by some needy girlfriend says, “I want you to miss me forever #FunnyBreakupExcuses.”
A girl who obviously had some height issues tweeted another insanely funny excuse, “I can't reach you even with my long stilettos.” The influence of the various babas were also felt when another tweeple said, “#FunnyBreakupExcuses because Nirmal baba said so.” And the best out of all the funny excuses was the one who stated a very serious compatibility issue tweeting, “You are a vegetarian! ;) #FunnyBreakupExcuses."
