Jolly LLB makes its case with good reviews
It was a funny Friday for movie goers as Arshad Warsi and funny man Boman Irani have, by all accounts, given us a laugh riot once again with the satirical comedy Jolly LLB at the box office. Will Jolly LLB, a satire on the legal system of the country, put the government on a legal backfoot?
Be it administrative upheavals in our country over Afzal Guru's hanging, the Ram Singh suicide and the lowering of the sex age from 18 to 16 - Jolly LLB does not, of course, directly cite these incidents, and is a film about an aspiring struggling lawyer Jolly played by Arshad Warsi.
In the film, Jolly wants to become India's biggest lawyer. When he comes to
Delhi in search of his star case, he becomes involved with one of the most popular and expensive lawyers played by Boman Irani, reported nnis.
Subhash Kapoor, who made his mark in the film Phas Gaya Obama seems to be on fire as the film showcases the nitty-gritties of the judiciary and makes fun of the rich-poor divide, and the system's habit of dragging cases for centuries. He could not have taken two more deserving actors for the part as everyone knows and appreciates Boman and Warsi's comic timing. The first day of the film shows a lot of promise and it is predicted to do well.
The dialogues are well-written and people will love it - as a satirical comedy has long been absent from the screen as its place has been taken over by over-the-top, action-fueled comedies, which do not agree with everyone's sense of humor. Jolly LLB will launch Arshad Warsi as a leading man, and it will again prove that gone are the days when only superstars could pull audience to the theaters.
