Journalist murder case: Dera chief and three others awarded life imprisonment and imposed fine
The Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been found guilty for having got Sirsa-based scribe Ramchander Chhatrapati killed in 2002 for having written against the Dera Chief in his newspaper 'Poora Sach.'

The special CBI court has handed down Dera Chief and three others to life imprisonment for the murder of journalist Ramchander Chhatrapati along with imposing a fine of Rs 50,000 each.

CBI court judge Jagdeep Singh pronounced the sentence on Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Nirmal Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Krishan Lal in the scribe's murder case. All the accused appeared through video conferencing.

Three other convicts of the scribe's murder case were also produced in the court from Ambala jail through video conference to hear the pronouncement of sentences.

Dera Chief is lodged in Sunaria jail in Rohtak to serve 20-year prison term for raping two of his women followers.

It was on 25th August, 2017, that the Dera Chief had been convicted of rape by a special CBI leading to widespread violence by his followers that at least 30 people dead. He was sentenced to 20 years in jail for rape and had been facing prosecution for murder of a journalist and three others as well as ordering forced castrations.
