June 30 is the last date to link your Aadhaar with PAN: Here's how to do it if you haven't already!
Over 2 crore taxpayers have already linked their Aadhaar with PAN in a country with 25 crore PAN card holders. On the other hand, Aadhaar cards have been issued to 111 crore people in India.

The Indian government has made it mandatory for taxpayers to link their Aadhaar numbers with PAN from July 1 onwards.

By amending the Income Tax Act, the government has made it mandatory to provide the 12-digit biometric Aadhaar on the enrollment ID while applying for a Permanenr Account Number (PAN) card.

While PAN is an alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax department to individuals and firms, Aadhaar is a biometric authentication issued by UIDAI.

Here's how to link your Aadhaar with PAN:

  • Go to the website

  • Click on the 'Link Aadhaar' tab located on the left side of the screen.

  • Type in your Aadhaar number and PAN.

  • Now enter your name exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar card and then submit.

  • After confirmation of verification details from UIDAI, the linking will be confirmed.

In case you are already registered with the e-filing website, you can link Aadhaar with PAN by logging on and then going to the profile settings under the Aadhaar linking option. Your PAN details would already be available there and all you have to do is to fill in your Aadhaar details including your name. Once you complete the linking, an OTP would be sent to your mobile for verification. Once done, the linkage would be completed if the name on both the Aadhaar and PAN matches completely, or else the user would be asked to re-enter the name.
