Just days after Nido's death, a Manipuri girl raped and two NE boys beaten in Delhi
Less than two weeks after the unfortunate death of Nido Tania, two more incidents took place in the city with people from the northeast. In the latest incident, two cousins in Delhi from northeast were allegedly beaten with sticks at Madangir in South Delhi. One of them is being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Prior to this on the night of Friday 7 February 2014, a 14-year-old girl from the northeastern state of Manipur was allegedly raped by her landlord's son in Munirka. The incident took place when the victim stepped out to buy some grocery from a nearby shop. The accused assaulted her in front of a pharmacy shop and then took her to a nearby room and raped her. She was taken to the Safdarjung hospital for treatment.

In the wake of the Manipur's girl rape, students from the neighbourhood and JNU staged a huge protest outside Vasant Vihar police station, where the police were initially refusing to lodge an FIR.

Such kind of attack and rape on people from the northeast will only worsen the situation, as they are still angry and infuriated with Nido's death, where he was beaten to death with iron rods and sticks at south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar market. People residing from the northeast are staging protests in a number of places against such attacks on northeast people.

Recently, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal and Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi were also seen at the protest, demanding justice for Nido at candlelight vigil last week. Politicians are meeting students from the North East to address their concerns of being racially targeted in Delhi and other cities.
