Justice Karnan refuses to undergo medical test, calling it a 'mad order by mad judges'
Refusing to undergo a medical test, Calcutta High Court Judge Justice CS Karnan claimed that he was perfectly fine.

In the last hearing, a seven-judge bench of SC judges had ordered a medical check up on Justice Karnan to ascertain his mental health. Refusing to undergo the test, Justice Karnan termed the apex court's order a 'mad order by mad judges'.

In fact, he said that he was mentally fit and that it was the SC judges who needed a medical treatment. On Thursday, he had said that such a "mad order" was clearly issued by "mad judges."

"It's a mad order by mad judges, highly illiterate judges I would say," Justice Karnan had said in a press briefing held after the order was pronounced.

The SC in the last hearing in the case had ordered that a medical board be constituted which will examine Justice Karnan's mental condition on May 5. The board has been given time till May 8 to submit the report. The case is scheduled to come up for hearing on May 18.

Justice Karnan, against whom a contempt of court case is pending in the SC, has been stripped of all judicial assignments & powers. The court has in previous hearings also ordered that no tribunal or authority in the country would take cognizance of any orders passed by Justice Karnan.

Justice Karnan has been accused of circulation of disparaging letters with accusations of corruption against sitting High Court judges of the Madras High Court and judges of the Supreme Court.
