Justice should reach people: Swati Maliwal, DCW Chairperson
Emphasizing the need for women's empowerment, the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal shared her experiences working with the victims of domestic violence, sexual harassment and acid attacks. She was addressing the students on the occasion of Students' Union oath ceremony and Freshers' welcome at Kalindi College.

The other chief guests on the occasion were Sarika Chaudhary, Member of Governing Body of Kalindi College and DCW and Deepak Marwah, Chairperson of the Governing Body. Dr. Anula Maurya, Principal of Kalindi College, Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Convener and Dr. Shanuja Beri, Co-convener of the event were also present to welcome the chief guests.

Fresh session of the college has already begun and newly inducted students were eagerly waiting for their welcome. So yesterday Kalindi College organised swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected College Students' Union and the freshers.

"I welcome all the students who have taken admission in this college and the larger family with an ambition. You must be feeling liberated from distinct values, dress code, and parent teacher meeting and so on… but it brings more responsibility on you" said Prof. J.M. Khurana, Dean Students' Welfare, addressing the students.

He encouraged the students to get involved in the activities which help in the development of their personality. He appreciated the efforts done by the college authorities in the direction of starting new courses from this session.

After this, office bearers of the Students' Union were introduced. Shubhangana and Simran Goswami were elected as President and Vice-president. The other members are Yashita Jaiswal, General Secretary, Suvarna Chowdhary, Cultural Secretary and A. Shree Charitha, Media Secretary. Dr. Anula Maurya administered the oath ceremony of the members of the Students' Union. She wished luck to the students and recited few poetic lines encouraging the students.

On this occasion newsletters of the political science and journalism departments were launched. Later, Akriti, a student from Life Science, lightened the environment with her classical dance performance.

In the end Dr. Harvinder Kaur delivered a vote of thanks to the guests followed by the student's fashion show and Miss Kalindi contest.
