The High Court of Himachal Pradesh today bid farewell to Justice Surinder Singh, who will demit office on Monday on superannuation after putting in more than 23 years of service in judiciary in various capacities. He served as the Judge of the High Court of H.P. for more than six years.
He was bid farewell by way of a full Court address in the Court of the Chief Justice and presented with Guard of Honour. Chief Justice A.M. Khanwilkar, Justices D.D. Sud, Sanjay Karol, Kuldip Singh, Rajiv Sharma, V.K. Sharma and D.C. Chaudhary were present on the occasion at shimla. Registrar General A.C. Dogra, Registrars Sureshwar Singh Thakur, Sushil Kukreja, K.S. Chandel and Arvind Malhotra alongwith Officers on Special Duty, members of the Bar and staff also attended the occasion.
Born on September 23, 1951 at Rajgarh District Sirmaur, H. P., Justice Surinder Singh graduated in law in the year 1973 and practiced in Civil, Criminal and Revenue matters in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh
and District Courts for around 16 years before being selected as Additional District and Sessions Judge in January, 1990. He served as ADJ at Dharamshala, Kullu, Nahan and Solan and as District and Sessions Judge (Forest) Shimla, District and Sessions Judge, Hamirpur, Mandi and Solan. He also served as Legal Remembrancer-cum- Secretary Law to the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Registrar (Vigilance) in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh. He also remained Appellate Transport Authority under the Motor Vehicles Act and was also a Member of Appellate Authority of Copy Right Board of India.
In his address, Justice Surinder Singh thanked the Bench and Bar as well as the staff members for their cooperation. The Chief Justice A.M. Khanwilkar hailed Justice Surinder Singh for his contribution towards Justice delivery system and computerization project in High Court. The Advocate General and Chairman of the Bar Council of H.P. Sharwan Dogra, President of High Court Bar Association B.C. Negi, Asstt. Solicitor General of India Sandeep Sharma also spoke on the occasion. The HP High Court Staff Welfare Association also hosted farewell party in honour of the outgoing Judge.
