Internationally acclaimed Indian actor Kabir Bedi feels that the Hindi film industry is not doing great at the moment because of shortage of talented actors.
ACTOR OF yesteryears Kabir Bedi feels sorry for the plight of the Hindi film industry, which he thinks has fallen short of brilliant actors. In his opinion, presently, Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor are the best the industry has to offer. Bedi, one of the few Indian actors who successfully made it to Hollywood, blames the “older actors” for the current situation. How will the industry bring in new talented actors when the old ones such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are not ready to retire?

Ranbir and Shahid are the most promising amongst the handful of new-generation actors, but more of such talent is needed in the industry. However, there is no shortage of talented young actresses in Bollywood. Actresses such as Anuskha Sharma and Deepita Padukone are doing a great job. These people came from nowhere, had no connections or godfathers, but have still made it big in the industry. Also, the very talented Priyanka Chopra, who has been around for almost a decade now, came from nowhere. Although Bedi has not done many Bollywood films he still considers himself a Bollywood actor. He labels Bollywood as the most potent symbol of India. Criticising those according to whom Bollywood is not a true representative of Indian culture, Bedi said that they are ignorant of the fact that the industry has an international fan following, which proves that it reflects Indian culture. It is one Indian industry that promotes communal unity and Hindi as the country’s national language, he added.
