Kalraj Mishra is MSME minister in PM Modi's government
Kalraj Mishra, the Uttar Pradesh BJP veteran and state president, has got Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises portfolio in PM Modi's government with a ministerial debut at centre.

The 71-year old senior BJP leader, an obedient of Jayprakash Narayan is a Master Degree holder from Kashi Vidyapeeth. He started his career as a Sangh Pracharak and later he was elected National President of All India Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of Janata Party in 1978 as his political debut.

Mishra is a three time Rajya Sabha MP - first in 1980, second in 1986 and later in August 2001. He has also worked as a cabinet Minister of Public Works and Tourism in UP state government in BJP regime and has been chief of BJP's UP unit.

The decision of Modi's government to allot the MSME portfolio to an experienced political veteran is certainly a positive step. MSME sector plays a great role in the economy while accounting 8% contribution in the total GDP of the country. It is also the second largest employment industry after agriculture.

SME sector expects a lot from the Modi-led government and the PM has already promised to set up more and more manufacturing units.
