Kamla Nehru Ridge located in North campus holds all evidences of the freedom struggle fought by the Indian activists from Delhi. Negligence of such an ancient monument of national importance has just left it as an ordinary joggers point.
EXISTENCE OF British empire over India has always been identified in one or the another way. Similarly, fight for freedom struggle has also left its footprints. Kamla Nehru Ridge located in North campus is such an example. It has all evidences of freedom struggle fought by the Indian activists from Delhi. It was used as a hiding venture by the activists, due to its dense greenery. The beauty of the ridge area lies in its hilly greenery which is hard to find in a city like Delhi.
Although most of the people coming to the ridge area are unknown of its historical importance and consider it as an ordinary park. Negligence of such an ancient monument of national importance has just left it as an ordinary joggers point. Adding to its importance Seismological Observatory and meteorological department of Northern Delhi are also situated in its premises only.
Khooni Khan jheel and Sparkar jheel are its two interesting venues. There is an interesting tale after the name of Khooni Khan jheel as told by the sources. It is said that thousands of men and women suicided in this 80 feet deep jheel and thus it is called as Khooni Khan jheel.
