The police is not lagging behind in the social networking boom. Kanpur police has made an account on the site and is determined to use it for better functioning.
WITH THE increasing criminal activities throughout the country, Kanpur Police came up with a new idea to catch criminals and maintain peace with the help of common people. Kanpur police has opened an account on one the most popular social networking site, Facebook, in an attempt to make themselves easily accessible to the public.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kanpur range M. Ashok Jain, who has opened the account on facebook on behalf of Kanpur Police said, “The main objective behind opening the account is to generate a direct medium of communication with the public. The exercise is aimed at facilitating better communication between police and the public.”
He mentioned that with the help of this account we will be able to get direct public feedback and review which help us to improve our functioning. Adding to it he told that it help us in other ways also, once the sketches of photographs of criminals will be done, it will be posted on the Facebook page, it will help them to make common people aware of such criminals and will also be helpful to grab such criminals with the help of common people as well.
He stated, “Whenever I get time, I visit the Facebook account that has been created around a week ago. However, I have instructed the officials to ensure the Facebook page is visited at least four-five times daily.”
