Karnataka MLAs study tour to Latin American countries: Can it be justified?
A 30 member Karnataka MLAs are to undertake a study tour to three Latin American countries in January 2014. This has been approved despite heavy backlash from the public and media during such a junket by 14 member legislators from the same Karnataka assembly during last year (August 2012).

The country is going through a very rough patch, economically. The state of Karnataka is also facing a number of problems from all sectors and its growth is substantially affected due to the drought, economic slowdown and other hindrances. Thus, spending Rs 2.25 crore from state treasury is really atrocious!

The purpose of study tour is study of water falls in Amazon forest and sport activities. This is simply non sense and an idea to fool the general public. Interestingly this 30 member includes all parties, BJP, Congress, JDS and others.

They too shamelessly defend this decision as their democratic right to have such junket! This perhaps speaks, whatever the difference in their parties ideologies, they are the same when it comes to their salary, privilege, vacation and all other selfish conveniences.

Such vacations at the cost of exchequers must be cancelled immediately. At the same time I ask Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi from Congress, and Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh from BJP to take a public stand on such junkets!

What will these legislators learn from such alligator parks and monkey-jungles? They will only learn how to shed crocodile tears and involve in more monkey acts. They already excel in such arts, if their public act and vandalism in assemblies are considered. Public are not fools and are not going to accept such jokes.
