DMK supremo M Karunanidhi has slammed the Centre for his daughter Kanimozhi's arrest. An irate Karunanidhi did not even spare the CBI, and accused them of making the interrogations a media spectacle.

THE ARREST of DMK MP Kanimozhi has created a rift between her father M Karunanidhi and the Congress. DMK’s loss in the recent elections also served as a double blow for the Karunanidhi-led party.

Speaking about his daughter from his constituency Tiravur on Sunday, Karunanidhi said that Kanimozhi had travelled from one place to another for campaigning. She worked hard for DMK's victory, and she's in prison either because of the Centre's order or indifference or some other reason. Reportedly, his favourite daughter, Kanimozhi, held considerable power in the DMK, unlike her step brothers.

But things took an ugly turn in May when she was arrested for her role in the country’s largest telecom scam, shortly after the Tamil Nadu assembly elections were declared. The charges pressed against her were accepting illicit bribe along with former DMK MP and the poster boy of Dalits, A. Raja. Although Kanimozhi had faced gruelling interrogation sessions with the CBI in New Delhi, Karunanidhi stated that the interrogating body was responsible for exhibiting the issue in the media.

Although Karunanidhi earlier stated that the alliance between the two parties remain unaffected, both of them have been sharing cold vibes since the party was clobbered in the elections.
