A DAY after Ajmal Kasab's utterances in the Special Court regarding his acts of omissions and commission during the Mumbai terror attack, his lawyer Abbas Kazmi claimed that his client's statements could not be treated as confession.
Qazmi said that Kasab was only replying to questions by the judge and it cannot be treated as confession to crime. He also alleged that Kasab was being pressurised and harassed in jail, adding that it was now for the Judge to decide on the future coarse of action based on Kasab's statements.
Kasab in his unexpected confessional statement on Monday (July 20), told the special court that he was asked to go to the CST and fire at people and the security men. He also gave minute details of the manner, in which the attack was planned, coordinated and executed by the LeT masterminds from across the border in Pakistan.
Kasab also named an Indian handler, who taught him Hindi prior to the attack. The investigating agencies are now looking to unravel the identity of this key player in the conspiracy behind Mumbai attacks.
