Kashmir Press Association conducts important general body meet
All the members in unison paid high tributes to the commendable work done by Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, the pioneer of English print media in Kashmir, President of Kashmir Press Association for the betterment of media fraternity in Kashmir.
IN A highly important meeting of Kashmir Press Association held at Hotel Taj Srinagar on 25th November, 2010, (the single largest body representing journalists of Kashmir), several issues confronting the print media of Kashmir were discussed and decision of conducting the elections of this prestigious body was also taken and the whole KPA body has been disbanded till elections, but confidence was reposed in the president and it was decided that he will continue for more three years.
All the members in unison paid high tributes to the commendable work done by Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, the pioneer of English print media in Kashmir, President of Kashmir Press Association for the betterment of media fraternity in Kashmir valley in his capacity as president.
In his deliberations, the president gave an outlook on the performance of Kashmir Press Associations and the hardships they had to face in carrying forward the problems of media fraternity to the authorities and immense success achieved in this regard.
"It has really been an odyssey for us to champion the cause of media fraternity successfully in the times of turbulence. We should all fear almighty to achieve success in life", said, Ghulam Hassan Kaloo.
Kashmir Press Association comprises of more than 63 members who are editors of different English and Urdu newspapers from Kashmir Valley.
A six member election commission was also setup on the occasion.
Pertinently, it was 163rd meeting of Kashmir Press Association. The meeting saw an impressive presence of members, who run leading publications of Kashmir Valley and members of several online news agencies were also present. The meeting lasted for about four hours and brain storming session was held during the said meeting.
