Six Kashmiri boys, all minors, who were planning to cross over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Kupwara sector for arms training, were stopped by J&K Police.
SIX KASHMIRI minors, who were planning to cross over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Kupwara sector for arms training, were stopped by J&K Police and later handed over to their parents.
A police spokesman said the boys in the age group of 12 and 13 years, were detained when they were found at Regipora, Kupwara and intending to cross to the other side of border. Police Station Pattan had earlier received the information about the missing of six youth, belonging to village Palhalan of North Kashmir. A massive hunt was accordingly launched and the group was later intercepted when they were about to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in the border district of Kupwara. The youth are studying in New Islamia Model School, Palhalan.
The police spokesman said they had reached Kupwara via Sopore and had stayed in a local Mosque at Regipora Kupwara. The priest of the mosque, while suspecting their intentions, had handed them over to Police Station at Kupwara.Later, they were handed over to their parents. The boys have been identified as Mohammad Saleem Sheikh, son of Abdul Ahad, Mohammad Yaqoob Butt, son of Ghulam Mohammad, Shareeq Ahmad Mir, son of Showkat Ahmad Mir, Umar Sultan Mir, son of Mohammad Sultan, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, son of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and Ilhaq Ahmad Tantray son of Habibullah Tantray, all residents of Tantraypora, Palhalan, Pattan.
