Kashmiris must differentiate between religion and radicalism

WORLD IS already overwhelmed with so many gigantic problems like hunger, floods, natural fires and economic blunders. We could have done without religious provocations. Since time immemorial, imposters and opportunists have been using religion to meet their nefarious ends. In New York Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Imam, who is leading the project to build an Islamic center and mosque near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks said on Monday that a resolution to the raging debate over its location is being examined. "We are exploring all options as we speak right now, and we are working to what will be a solution, God willing, that will resolve this crisis, diffuse it and not create any unforeseen or untoward circumstances that we do not want to see happen." He said this in a question-and-answer session following a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations. But in response to a later question, Rauf said the proposed location, while controversial, was important. "We need a platform where the voice of moderate Muslims can be amplified. ... This is an opportunity that we must capitalize on so the voice of moderate Muslims will have a megaphone," he said.
The imam said he wanted to clarify a "misperception" that the Islamic center's proposed site was sacred ground. During his remarks, Rauf raised the question of whether the project was worth the controversy.
"The answer is a categorical yes," he said. "Why? Because this center will be a place for all faiths to come together in mutual respect." He noted: "The world will be watching what we do here." He also decried some aspects of the debate surrounding the proposal. "Let us therefore reject those who would use this crisis ... for political gain or even for fame," he said.

They are pulling the wool over the eyes of innocent people around the world if he thinks it a SERVICE to Islam and Humanity, This project is causing so much bitterness, so many problems and heartache it should be transferred to somewhere few streets down! Ordinary Muslim is not trying to cause any problems but it seems like these so-called religious leaders, reformers and priests are causing several. They never think about the consequences of their harebrained enterprises and the harms they cause to millions of Muslims, who follow their dictates blindly. Will someone tell them that any mosque should always be a built in a safe environment to go pray and seek forgiveness and not to cause the revival of horrible memories.
Something sacrilegious happened in USA and several innocent lives are lost in Kashmir as a reaction in India ! The Custodian of Holy Mosques in Arabia and most of the Muslim Leaders around the globe are playing toady to Uncle Sam. We in India are punishing ourselves for the misdeed of demented bigots of USA. I’m not sure if those who have shed their blood were clear about the cause. Were they even aware that it was the Home Minister of democratic India, the first politicial leader in the world to raise his voice and India’s concern against the intended misdeed of American Christian priest ? This madness must stop ! We have had enough of bigotry in the name of religion!
