OSCAR WINNING British actress Kate Winslet has split from her film director husband Sam Mendes. The pair has been married since 2003 and has two children. Winslet, 34, shot to international stardom on the back of her appearance opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in James Cameron's "Titanic."
Kate Winslet won an Academy Award for best actress for her role in "The Reader" in 2009. Kate Winslet had been nominated five other times for her roles in Titanic, Sense and Sensibility, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Little Children. Mendes, an acclaimed stage and film director, won the coveted best director Oscar for "American Beauty."
Winslet, 34, married Mendes, 44, in a small, low-key ceremony in the Caribbean in May 2003. It was Winslet's second marriage. Her first, to British director Jim Threapleton, ended in divorce in 2001.
Kate Winslet is currently filming the HBO TV mini-series "Mildred Pierce", with director Todd Haynes and actors Guy Pearce and Evan Rachel Wood, about a divorced single mother.
