KBC 5 TRP reach new high with Sushil Kumar's winning episode
The TRP ratings of KBC saw a record increase, as the Rs 5-crore two-part episode featuring Sushil Kumar witnessed 7.2 and 8 TRP for the two episodes.

SUSHIL KUMAR, like any other aam aadmi had registered to play in one of the most famous quiz shows in India, Kaun Banega Crorepat'si season 5, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Little did he know that he would be rocketing into fame once the show was over - as he won the biggest jackpot in KBC’s history becoming the first Indian to win Rs 5 crores on the show. It is due to him that the TRP or Television Ratign Points for the show increased manifold, when he was featured on the televisionin the episodes, which notched up 7.2 and 8 featuring Sushil. With this the KBC programme became the highest rated non-fiction programme on Indian television, reported IANS.

People were already aware that a person by the name of Sushil Kumar had won the jackpot even before it was shown on KBC 5, as many news media outlets across the country reported it. So, people were very interested to watch how the winner won the jackpot. They were curious to see his reactions, the questions he answered, the concentration on his face while answering these, the pensiveness and a whole lot of things, as it is very rare for a person to win such a big amount.

Sushil Kumar, a resident of Bihar who made his livelihood as a computer operator was ecstatic when he answered the last question of the show, which gave him the mega jackpot. The scenes were something to watch out for. The question that separated Suhil Kumar and 5 crores was, ‘which colonial power ended its involvement in India by selling the rights of the Nicobar Islands to the British on October 16, 1968? His options were Belgium, Italy, Denmark and France.

The tension was evident on Sushil Kumar's face as he told Amitabh Bachchan that he wanted to go the bathroom, but was refused by the host as per rules. He opted for Denmark, which turned out to be the correct answer. In excitement, he poured water over his head and put his hands up in the air and hugged Amitabh Bachchan, and later hugged his family members who came to watch the show. The audience present also gave him a standing ovation, which he might have never thought of, on public television.

With scenes like these that unfolded, no wonder people across the country chose to sit glued to their TV screens to watch the milestone winning streak of Sushil Kumar on KBC - thereby taking the TRP of the programme to new heights.
