Keep your cool, Shreesanth!
Culling Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid from the Indian team for next months limited series in Australia has raised many eyebrows, and the dust doesnt seem to be settling in the coming days.

IN THIS connection, it is worth pondering over the words of Vengsarkar, inducting Sreesanth: “When we took the selections in our hand, we were number seven at the ranking, now we are number two and we hope that we will be number one very soon, not only in tests but even in one day international (ODI).”

It is really optimistic when it is looked at from an optimistic angle. Otherwise, it is not so optimistic because we cannot expect our team to be successful in maintaining its form for two events consecutively.

This is all because we have young bloods like Sreesanth in our team. He alone can keep the spirit of Team India alive. But when faced with pressure and intimidation, which are the two things very common in cricket, it is better for Sreesanth to keep restraint and stay cool and not to let the opponent get to him.

Yes, our team had unpleasant experiences in Australia, and our tour was about to be called off. Anyway, things are better now and our team has shown the kangaroos that Indian team is Team India. If the words of Vengsarkar are anything to go by: “We hope that we will be number one very soon,” we have to keep Sreesanth from showing faces and grimacing at his counterparts when faced with intimidation and pressure.

The lesson Team India offers to the Indian youth is really discouraging, and our youngsters are taking the grins and growls Sreesanth has as precedents and these precedents do not augur well for any team player, not to speak of cricket. So Sreesanth, it is great to be in Indian team, and greater not to be grinning at others. You represent a nation. So your words, deeds and gestures need to be strictly confirming to the Indian ethos.
