The Delhi Government has finally got success in finding a humble house that suits the common man image of its Chief Minster and Aam Aadmi Party president Arvind Kejriwal. There is a designated bungalow marked for Delhi CMs in the Lutyen's Delhi but he was already refused to live in that as he sees it a wastage of taxpayers money and promotion VIP culture.
Now the state government has identified a 3-BHK house in Tilak Nagar to be the official address of the chief minister. Its a type-VI flat (3BHK plus study room) in a government residential complex in central Delhi, close to the Patiala House courts complex.
The flat, a C-II category accommodation is usually allotted to officials of joint secretary rank and above.
Earlier there was huge hue and cry when two duplex apartments were chosen for Kejriwal on Bhagwan Das Road. One of the 5-BHK flats was supposed to be his residence while the other was marked as his office.
However, severe criticism by media and the opposition parties in Delhi forced Kejriwal to reject the house. Presently the Delhi CM is residing with his family at Indian Revenue Service flat allotted to his wife in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad.
Kejriwal's new flat is interestingly just a few hundred meters from his predecessor Sheila Dikshit's former official house on Mathura Road.
