Kerala election results: Congress wins all
Congress has won all three which went to the by-polls in Kerala. The party MLAs won the seats with handsome margins showing that people are not happy with government functioning. In UP however the BSP has come up with the strongest performance.
IN A major boost to the Congress, which is already on a high after the recent victories in state elections, the party won all the three Assembly seats in Kerala. Congress won in Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kannur seats for which the by-polls were held in the state.

In Alapphuza, A A Shukur defeated G Krishnaprasad of the Communist Party of India by 5000 votes. Congress candidate in Kannur, A P Abdulla Kutty won by 12000 votes defeating M V Jayarajan of ruling CPIM.

In Ernakulum, Dominic Presentation won the Ernakulam seat by defeating his nearest rival P N Seenulal by 8000 votes.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, ruling Bahujan Samaj Party led by chief minister Mayawati appears to have performed strongly in the by-elections. BSP candidates are leading in ten constituencies in Uttar Pradesh making it clear that Mayawati has made a clear comeback after recent electoral setback in the general elections.
