Kerala to host conference on "English Language Acquisition: Western Theories and Eastern Practices"
The English Language Teachers' Association of India (ELTAI) is going to organise its international cum national conference at Ernakulum on 29th and 30th June and 1st July at St. Teresa College in Ernakulum of Kerala state, often dubbed as the God's Own Country.

According to organisers of the event, the conference will be an academic feast for three days with the theme "English Language Acquisition: Western Theories and Eastern Practices" which will be marked with paper presentations, poster displays, demonstrations, discussions and invited talks.

The ELTAI, founded in 1974 with an objective of professionalizing English language teaching starting from primary through secondary to tertiary levels, has about 4000 members on its roll and 60 chapters in different parts of the country, had been conducting international conference that attracted over 800 delegates from various parts of the country and abroad, it is claimed by the organisers.

This year the conference is going to be interesting since besides the usual topics related to teaching of English, the subthemes like Indigenous Theories of Teaching and Learning English; Teach for India: Teach in India; Social Media and English; Corporate Training vs. Classroom Teaching; NGO/CSR Activities in Strengthening English Literacy, etc., have been included.
