Kevin Pietersen calls its a day from ODIs and T20 cricket
Kevin Pietersen has called it quits, as far as limited overs cricket is concerned. It was a huge setback for the English team, as he has retired just months before the start of the T20 World Cup.

KEVIN PIETERSEN, one of the most flamboyant cricketers of the current generation, has hung up his boots in the coloured clothing format, T20 and ODI cricket. But, he still wants to play the longer format of the game, Test cricket, which is considered to be the ultimate Test of a cricketer. So, it is no surprise, when he has decided to stick with the longer format of the game, like many other cricketers, who have gone the same way of giving up on ODI cricket to focus on Test cricket.

Pietersen has had a successful ODI career with a total of 4184 runs and scored 1176 runs from 36 T20 matches, reported NDTV. He has cited his age, 32, along with a very busy international cricket calendar to be one of the reasons for deciding to quit. He also feels it is the right time for some youngsters to come into the team and get much-needed experience for the next 50 over world cup in 2015.

But, the decision must have surprised the ECB, as the T20 World Cup is just round the corner and his services are surely going to be missed by the English. He had been one of the best players in the IPL, though he could not play the entire tournament. Had he been in the team, he would have been the most important player for them, but they have to look for his replacements, elsewhere. One might take years to find a suitable replacement for him for the long run, as his boots are to big to be filled immediately.

The player would not only be missed by the English fans, but also his fans, which are scattered all over the world. One such fan, Pravin Rukhiyar from India says, “I will miss KP in the upcoming T20 World Cup, especially his huge sixes and classic boundaries. His ability to play under any pitch conditions made him a great player”.

KP is one of the best cricketer of modern cricket. He has proved his skills and abilities many time during his career and his career statistic proves it. ECB should allow him to play in the shortest format of cricket and atleast till T20 world cup 2012. Cricket fans will really miss the game of one of the enthusiastic cricketer.
