Kings XI Punjab to play against host Mumbai Indians in 40th IPL 2011 match
IPL 2010 runners-up Mumbai Indians is on the third place of the IPL 2011 with 10 points in seven matches, whereas Kings XI Punjab is on the eight place in the tournament with six points from the six matches.
AFTER LOSING against Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals three days back in the Indian Premier League, Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians takes on another Aussie legend Adam Gilchrist's team Kings XI Punjab in the 40th match of the IPL 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 2.

In the Indian Premier League 2011 Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians has played seven matches, and has won five matches against Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors, defending IPL champion Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers, whereas lost against Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan Royals.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2011, Sachin Tendulkar is in prolific form and has scored 276 runs with an average of 69 and at a strike rate of 115. Sachin Tendulkar is the third highest run getter in this season of IPL. He has also scored his first-ever T20 hundred in the IPL 2011.

In the bowling department, Lasith Malinga has picked 17 wickets so far in the IPL 2011, and he is the leading wicket taker of the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 5.92. His best figure in the ongoing tournament was against Delhi, 5/13.

Other Mumbai Indians cricketers such as Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh are also performing in the IPL 2011 either from bat or bowl.

Kings XI Punjab has played the least number of matches so far in the IPL 2011. Adam Gilchrist and his team started the IPL 2011 campaign against Pune Warriors with a seven-wicket defeat, but in the next three matches won against Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals. In the last two matches, Punjab lost against Delhi and Kolkata Knight Riders.

For Kings XI Punjab, opener Paul Valthaty has scored 268 runs in six innings including an unbeaten 120 off just 63 balls against the Chennai Super Kings almost a fortnight ago. Shaun Marsh is one of the most consistent batsman in the IPL and has scored ten fifties in the IPL so far. Adam Gilchrist, David Hussey and Dinesh Karthik, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla are also valuable players for the Punjab team.

Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab have played six matches so far in the IPL with each other. Out of six matches Punjab have won four matches and lost two. Mumbai won both the matches at its home ground. Lasith Malinga and Piyush Chawla have taken nine wickets each for their team in the IPL so far.

The Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab 40th match of the IPL 2011 will start at 4:00 pm.
